An empty lot in South Los Angeles could yield new affordable housing, per a recent Executive Directive 1 application to the Department of City Planning.

The proposed project from Dreamwork Development LLC, which would rise at 11308 S. Main Street calls for the construction of a five-story edifice featuring 38 studio and one-bedroom apartments sans on-site parking.

Requested approvals also include density bonus incentives to permit a larger building than would otherwise be allowed by zoning rules. The apartments would be reserved for low- and moderate-income renters.

Malekian & Associates is designing the project, according to plans included with the filing.

The project is one of two recently filed for entitlements with Dreamwork Development, following a smaller apartment building proposed on Florence Avenue.
